What is the Best Time of the Year to Visit Serbia?

We're as biased as it gets when it comes to Belgrade, but even our rose-tinted glasses can't hide everything. Each season shows a different side of Serbia and draws travellers from many countries.

Spring (April – May): The Sweet Spot

April and May are arguably the best months to visit Serbia. The weather is warm and pleasant (15–25°C), the parks and riverbanks come alive with greenery, and the city buzzes with outdoor events and festivals. The splav season begins in late April, and you'll find Belgrade at its most beautiful with blooming flowers and café terraces packed with locals enjoying the sunshine. Fewer tourists than summer means better prices and a more authentic experience.

Summer (June – August): Peak Party Season

Summer is the peak season for Belgrade's late-running nightlife. The splavs are in full swing, Exit Festival in Novi Sad draws international crowds, and the city's Ada Ciganlija beach buzzes with activity. Temperatures can reach 35°C+, so prepare for the heat. It's the most expensive and busy time, but also the most energetic. Perfect for a group party trip.

Autumn (September – October): Fewer Crowds and Lower Prices

September and October offer a beautiful transition. The summer crowds thin out, prices drop, and the weather remains warm enough for outdoor activities (15–20°C). The splav season extends into September. Wine harvest festivals in nearby wine regions make this a great time for food and culture lovers.

Winter (November – March): Cold but Cosy

Belgrade in winter has its own distinct charm. The city's indoor club scene truly shines, with venues packed and the party atmosphere as strong as ever. Christmas and New Year celebrations are spectacular, with outdoor markets and fireworks. January sees the Epiphany Cross dip at Ada Ciganlija. Temperatures average 0–5°C, so pack warmly.
